HUIIC CLUB ACTIVITIES

  • Club meeting every three weeks with a themed student-run presentation, problem-solving brainstorming session, and clinical debate, with food provided! Discuss both what is already known and what is yet to be understood in immunology.

  • Weekly online posting of a short summaries of research papers that emphasize the relevance of immunology in different subjects. Highlighting different labs that do cutting-edge research in interdisciplinary immunology.

  • Awareness events and fundraising for immunological disorders that are not well understood or publicized, such as neuroimmune rare disorders. Could potentially involve patient exposure and experience accounts, with consent.

  • Lotteried dinners and presentations with a faculty member researcher or doctor to learn their perspectives on relevant future directions of their field and experiences.

  • YouTube videos to educate anyone, anywhere on Immunology topics in a simple, easy-to-understand way. For students, by students. We strongly believe that teaching is a critical part of learning and that being able to convey understanding simply is key to having learned it well. This is motivated by the apparent dearth of online video teaching resources for immunology.

  • IMMUNOgeneration: An event for Harvard Students, with a panel of guest speakers from diverse research/medical fields relevant to immunology. If successful our first year, following years could also include posters from students who wish to present their research in immunology and non profits relevant to autoimmune awareness campaigns. Called this way since an immunogen is an antigen that causes an immune response -- we want a response!
