“what does it take to join us?”, you may ask…

NO PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE OF IMMUNOLOGY NECESSARY. Only curiosity to learn!

ALL BACKGROUNDS WELCOME. Diversity of thought is encouraged!

  • Open to all students in good standing currently enrolled in Harvard College, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, national/ethnic origin, age, physical disability, or other factors irrelevant to participation in programs of the College.

  • Members of HUIIC will not participate or engage in any hazing activities.

  • Membership and leadership positions are only open to undergraduates, but graduate students and faculty are open to offer advising to members or give presentations.

  • Membership shall be retained until the student severs relations with the University whether by graduation or otherwise. Membership will be retained during the vacation and recesses of the university.

  • NO DUES. Joining is completely FREE.

  • If a member chooses to formally resign, an email must be addressed to the secretary.

  • New members can join either in the fall or spring semesters. There will be a completion comp process. Simply by participating in activities and attending club meetings, the member will maintain membership. Members will be encouraged to delve into whichever subjects relevant to immunology they desire, regardless of background.

  • New members will be provided with an online interest application form which they must submit by a deadline after an initial interest meeting in either the fall or spring semester. New members will receive an email of acceptance into the club if they complete the application and show genuine interest. Members who choose to join later in the semester must contact our secretary to get approval.

  • Members will be required to participate in club meetings. Members will be sent an attendance survey prior to meetings with the opportunity to excuse absences. Excuses for absences must be recorded. Two unexcused absences equal a warning, and three or more unexcused absences will result in membership being revoked.

  • Problematic behavior will not be tolerated in HUIIC. What constitutes as problematic behavior will be presented to board members of HUIIC, who will discuss the severity of the behavior (in case campus authorities should be involved) and vote on the consequence of such behavior. If a problematic behavior is given a warning by the board and is subsequently repeated, the membership will be revoked
